Albert Julian "Al" Cook, 79, of Nashville, died Saturday February 24, 2018 at his residence.
He was born February 26, 1938 in Cook County to the late James Alvie Cook and the late Kizzy Ruth Harnage. He retired as a MSGT with the United States Air Force where he served as an accounting and financial specialist. After his retirement he was a regional manager for Holiday Markets for 10 years. He then became very involved in counseling, where he became a senior counselor with the Georgia Department of Corrections and was also a contract counselor for numerous other prison systems. He was a member of Cross Creek Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife: Aline Cook, daughter: Cheryl Harvey and a brother: Jimmy Cook.
He is survived by 4 daughters: Michelle (Thomas) Chavarria of Naylor, Donna Cook of Houston, TX, Kim Flaherty of Nashville and Debbie McAbee of Tucson, AZ; step daughter: Sherry (Steve) Foster of Perry, FL; 2 sons: Richard Cook of Waycross and Mark Cook of Pooler; 4 sisters: Vern Clark of Valdosta, Dean (Troy) Hewitt of Valdosta, Chris (Jerry) Becker of Nashville and Tammy (Dwain) Steverson of Alapaha; 16 grandchildren: Jason, Michael, David, Tomas, Ryann, Jeremy, Cameron, Jacob, Alex, Tristian, Andrew, Anthony, Steven, Heather, Brian and Collin; numerous great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday March 3, 2018 at 10 AM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Daniel Morris officiating. Interment will follow at 2 PM in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Perry, FL with full military honors. Visitation is Friday from 6 to 8 PM.
