Alexander Earl "Alex" Cousart, 74, of Nashville died Saturday May 4, 2019 at SGMC Berrien Campus.
He was born April 21, 1945 in Pasay City, Philippines Island to the late Walter Maurice Cousart and the late Margaret Autotte Cousart. He was a retired Sgt Major US Army with 30 years service. He was a drill instructor, weapons expert, paratrooper , recruiter and served three tours in Vietnam. He was Roman Catholic by faith and attended the St. Johns church in Valdosta; a member of the Nashville Post VFW, DAV Valdosta and American Legion Valdosta and was a double black belt in karate. He was preceded in death by a sister: Marianne Cousart; two brothers: Walter Cousart and Verne Cousart.
He is survived by his wife: Debra Dewitt Cousart of Nashville; 2 daughters: Salina (Jamie) Phillips of Harvest, AL and Rosemarie (Matt) Faulkner of Lemoore, CA; son: Santo Cousart (Shelia Brady) of Ecru, MS; 6 grandchildren: J. D. Cousart, Grant Tunstill, Hunter Phillips, Kaeley R. Fore, Tori A Parr, Cheyenne S. Fore (Luis) Hernandez and one granddaughter on the way; 3 sisters: Yvonne Bertram of Hampton, Judy C. Elus of Valdosta and Margaret Cousart of Valdosta; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday May 10, 2019 at 2 pm in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Keith Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in Nashville Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Visitation is Friday 1-2 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the DAV Valdosta.
