Alton Henry Rowan, 88, of Alapaha died Friday March 18, 2016 in Tift Regional Medical Center.
He was born March 31, 1927 in Berrien County to the late James Henry Rowan and the late Rebecca Elizabeth Browning Rowan. He was a retired farmer and a member of Glory United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law: Gwen and Mike McCranie; a son: Michael Rowan.
He is survived by his wife: Nell Moore Rowan of Alapaha; 3 daughters: Kathi (Dewitt) Wright of Valdosta, Ronda Rowan of Alapaha and Fonda Rowan of Hartwell; 3 sisters: Mary Alice Hammond of Orlando, FL, Hellen Whittington of Micanopy, FL and Regina (Glen) Gaeta of Blue Ridge; brother: Raymond (Linda) Rowan of Boca Raton, FL; 5 grandchildren: Kyle McCranie, Blake McCranie, Jared Wright, Audrey Wright and Sara Kathryn LeGette; close friends: Mickey Carter and R.M. Green.
Funeral services will be held Monday March 21, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Hauser officiating. Entombment will be held in Glory Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
