Obituary

Kenton Andrew Morrison, Sr. 91, of Nashville Georgia passed away on September 4, 2024, of natural causes.  He was known as Andy to his friends and family.  Andy was born October 12, 1932, in St Augustine, Florida to the late Kenton Foxworth Morrison and the late Erma Agathea Andreu Morrison. Andy was preceded in death by his wife Mary Carrell Morrison, his older sister, Marion Triay and a younger brother, Ervin Morrison.

Andy attended Cathedral Parrish School and graduated from St Joseph's Academy in St. Augustine.  He served as an altar boy at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine.   Andy attended Stetson University but was drafted during the Korean conflict into the United States Navy where he served as a control tower operator.   Upon leaving the Navy Andy used his GI bill to learn to fly which became a lifelong passion for him.    Andy was a salesman for Beck & Greg hardware for twenty years.   During this tenure with Beck & Greg he met the love of his life Mary Carrell Morrison in Nashville, Georgia.  The two married on June the 12, 1967.  The two would go on to share a life of 55 years.  In 1972 the couple moved to Nashville and opened Morrison Hardware where Andy would spend the next 52 years creating jobs and serving his community.  Andy was an avid supporter of the Berrien Recreation Department for over 50 years.  Sponsoring football teams, basketball teams, baseball teams, coaching teams, donating equipment, donating materials and funds to help make the park better.  Andy believed in businesses supporting and giving back to the community and this was seen in his deeds.  He served as the Touchdown Club President and supporter of Berrien Football for many years.   He also served as a Rotarian and the club president, a Chamber of Commerce member and officer. He has been a member of AOPA for fifty-five years.  He also served as a Board member of the Citizens Bank for many years.  Andy was a member of the St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Ray City, Georgia.  Andy loved to travel but no matter where he was in the world he always found a Catholic Church to attend mass.

In 1980 Andy purchased TM Polyfilm in Valdosta, Georgia creating over 200 jobs.    Andy was an avid hunter, pilot and enjoyed boating.

He is survived by his daughter: Susan (Mike) McCranie of Nashville; son: Ken (Dawn) Morrison of Adel; 5 grandchildren: Ivy (Jack) Lindsey of Nashville, Catherine (Jackson) Pegg of Nashville, Joe McCranie (Caroline Smith) of Murfreesboro, TN, Andreu (Madeline) Morrison of Valdosta and Jackson Morrison of Atlanta; great granddaughter: Slaton Lindsey.

A funeral mass will be held Saturday September 7, 2024 at 11 AM in the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Westview cemetery. A Rosary service will be held Friday at 5 PM in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Visitation will be held Friday from 6 to 8 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
