Mrs. Anna Louise (Carkin) Ford departed this life on Monday, September 07, 2015 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Her family rejoices that she won her battle over Alzheimer's as she lives on in the presence of her God and Savior. Mrs. Ford was born on September 21, 1926 in South Lynebourough, New Hampshire. She traveled from her home in New Hampshire to visit her sister living in Brunswick, Georgia where she met and later married Mr. Ralph Ford on March 18, 1945 in Nashville, Georgia. While living in Nashville their first two children were born, Ralph Lee and Betty Ann Ford.
Ralph and Anna later moved with their two children from Nashville, Georgia to Clewiston, Florida in 1948. Ralph and Anna labored side by side in business eventually building a service station in Moore Haven, Florida. While living in Clewiston they were blessed with two more sons, Wendell Jerome and David Vincent Ford. Ralph and Anna were active with their children as members of the First Baptist Church of Clewiston, Florida. Eventually Ralph and Anna sold their business and home in Florida and purchased land in Berrien County, Georgia where they made their home in 1982 until they were parted by Ralph's death in 1991. Mr. Ralph Ford died on Labor Day Monday, September 2nd, 1991 and Mrs. Anna Ford died on Labor Day Monday, September 7th, 2015; now they both rest from their labors. Mrs. Ford was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Berrien County, Georgia.
Mrs. Ford was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Robert Clement Carkin and Mrs. Beulah Hope Carkin; and by her brothers: Mr. Warren Carkin and his wife, Florence; Mr. Bob Carkin and his wife, Christine; Mr. Gordon Carkin; Mr. Loren Carkin; and Mr. Frank Carkin. She was also preceded in death by her first-born child, Mr. Ralph Lee Ford; son-in-law, Mr. Robert Leonard "Bobby" Dunning, Sr. and first-born grandson, Mr. Robert Leonard "Little Bob" Dunning, Jr.
Mrs. Ford is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Betty Ann (Ford) Dunning; by two sons, Mr. Wendell J. Ford and Rev. David V. Ford and his wife, Mary Lou. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Mrs. Patricia Ann "Sissy" Michalowski and her husband, Eddie; Ms. Sheri Lynn Scott; Mr. Steven Lucas Dunning and his wife, Miranda; Mrs. Robin June O'Brien and her husband, Eric; Mr. Samuel Lee Ford and his wife, Claire; Mrs. Carlee Lauren (Ford) Jang and her husband, Moon Kyu; Mrs. Marianna Carkin (Ford) Nice and her husband, Daniel. She is survived by twelve great-grandchildren: Mrs. Jessica Nicole Jones and her husband, Ronnie; Mr. Grady Robert Scott and his wife, Melissa; Mr. David Roland Scott and his wife, Danielle; Mrs. Courtney Lynn Kuhn and her husband, Justin; Mr. Cody Robert Dunning; Ms. CeAnna Lee Michalowski; Mr. Chase Montgomery Ruehl; Ms. Hayley Cheyanne Ruehl; Ms. Lacey Kendall Dunning; step-grandson, Mr. Kaden Wilkerson; Mr. Samuel Lee Ford II; and Ms. June Irene Ford. She is survived by five great great-grandchildren: Mr. Ronald Wayne Jones II; Mr. Colten Lee Jones; Ms. Shelby Lynn Scott; Ms. Summer Leone Scott; and Mr. Grady Alvin Scott. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Bernice Vaughn and Mrs. Muriel Cox and her husband, Buddy and by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great-nieces and nephews.
Family night visitation is scheduled for Thursday, September 10, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lovein Funeral Home in Nashville, GA. Memorial service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2015 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church located on Mt. Pleasant Church Road followed by internment at Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church cemetery on Poplar Springs Church Road; both are located off of the Homerville highway; Rev. Stan Stalvey and Rev. David V. Ford officiating.
