Bertha King, 80, of Alapaha, died Saturday June 16, 2012 in the Holly Hill Nursing Home.

She was born September 21, 1931 in Berrien County to the late Curtis King and the late Geneva Woods. She retired from the United States Department of Education in Washington, D.C. as a home economics consultant. She was a member of the Enigma United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by a brother: Nelson King and a niece: Pat Owen.

She is survived by her nephew: Stephen T. (Kathy) King of Hiawassee; sister-in-law: Lavan S. King of Valdosta; great niece: Sherry (Joey) Parker of Hahira; 3 great nephews: David (Peggy) Copeland of Bristol, VA, Michael T. King of Bristol VA, and Jeremy Richard (Nicole) King of Woodstock; various other family members.

Graveside funeral services will be held Friday June 22, 2012 at 2 PM in the Sutton Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
