Obituary

Mrs. Betty Akins Peters, 88, of Ray City, GA passed peacefully on July 3, 2020 at Heather Hill Healthcare Center in New Port Richey, FL.  Betty was born September 22, 1931 in Lakeland, GA to the late Roy and Ruth Nobles.  She lived most of her life in Berrien County and retired from the Civil Service, where she worked for 31 years at Moody Air Force Base as the Communications Supervisor.  Mrs. Peters was of the Christian faith and a long standing member of New Bethel Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son: Bob Akins and his wife: Vivian of Holiday, FL; her grandchildren: Michael Powe, Sean Akins, Lynsey Akins and Alexis Akins Tilley; her step-daughters: Tammy and Pam Peters; and her great grandchildren: Adalay Brackin and Mason Walker; She is also survived by her siblings: Cora Crosby, Margie Gallager, Francis Hagen and Ferris Nobles.  She was preceded in death by her husband: Eston Peters and her daughter: Brenda Powe Wright.

Graveside services and interment were at 10:30 AM, Friday July 10, 2020 at New Bethel Baptist Church (5206 New Bethel Rd. Valdosta, GA) with the Rev. Tyler Barrett officiating. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there was no visitation or reception.
