Betty Devane, 86, of Nashville, died Sunday November 24, 2013 in the Tift Regional Medical Center.
She was born February 11, 1927 in Lanier County to the late William Elisha Rowan and the late Golie Watson. She was a homemaker and retired educator for the Berrien County Board of Education. She was a member of the Nashville First Baptist Church, Berrien Retired Teachers, Pine Needle Sewing Club, the New Lois Community Club, active in WMU, loved to direct plays, and was an avid gardner. She was the widow of Kay Parrish Devane who died November 3, 2009.
She is survived by 2 daughters: Vanne (Leon) Tucker of Nashville and Mary Kay (Chris) Welsh of Dothan, AL; 3 brothers: Van Rowan of Adel, Jimmy Rowan of Athens, and William Rowan of Nashville; 4 grandchildren: John (Katy) Tucker, Kathryn (Josh ) Warren, James Welsh and fiancé Lindsay Rich, and Margaret (Jordan) Toups.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday November 27, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Nashville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Stanley Luke, Rev. Danny Ray, and Rev. Mickey Lindsey officiating and the eulogy by Mr. Danny Studstill. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 7 to 9 PM.
