Obituary

Betty Harnage Hughes, 90, of Nashville, died Saturday March 2, 2024 in the Southwell Health and Rehabilitation Center in Adel.

She was born July 28, 1933 in Berrien County to the late Arlie Newton Harnage and the late Maudie Ree Howell Harnage. She was a homemaker and of the Holiness faith. She volunteered with hospice, loved her plants and having a garden. She was the widow of John Robert Hughes who died in 2015 and was also preceded in death by a sister: Lenora Jefferson; 3 brothers: Herman Harnage, Henry Harnage and Donald Harnage.

She is survived by her daughter: Peggy (Raymond) Tucker of Tifton; 2 sons: Benny (Donna) Barber of Senoia and Darrell (Brenda) Barber of Alapaha; 5 grandchildren: Matt (Tiffany) Barber, Zachary (Nichole) Barber, Josh (Jennifer) Barber, Adam (Christine) Barber, Blake (Brianna) Tucker; 9 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Thursday March 7, 2024 at 11am in the Long Bridge cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Hughes officiating. Visitation is in the cemetery 30 minutes prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a hospice of choice.
