Betty Jean Hughes, 96, of Nashville, died Tuesday April 5, 2022 at Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta.

She was born June 6, 1925 in Cook County to the late Chester David Shaw and the late Louise Dickson Shaw.  She was a homemaker, member of Nashville First Baptist Church, member of  the VFW Auxiliary and Eastern Star. She was the widow of Marcus Newton "Mark" Hughes who died in 2000 and also preceded in death by a daughter: Marcia Hughes who died in 2003.

She is survived by her daughter: Lou (Mike) Harris of Dickinson, TX; son: Newt (Sissi) Hughes of Nashville; 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday April 7, 2022 at 1 PM in Westview Cemetery with Rev. David Akins officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 11:00 to 12:45 at Lovein Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to the Nashville First Baptist Church or the Langdale Hospice House.
