Betty Vernell Meyer, 89, of Lakeland died Monday August 13, 2018 at the Lakeland Villas.

She was born May 27, 1929 in Berrien County to the late Joe Mathis and the late Alice Lewis Mathis.  She was a homemaker, worked in the Publix bakery in Venice, FL and  was a member of First Baptist Church of Lakeland.  She was the widow of William August Meyer who died in 1991; she was also preceded in death by a son-in-law: Dennis Webrand; 6 sisters and 4 brothers.  The family would like to thank the staff of Lakeland Villas for the compassion, love and care they have shown for the last 15 years.

She is survived by 2 daughters: Gale (Russell) May of Venice, FL and Renna Webrand of Lakeland; 4 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday August 16, 2018 at 3PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Scotty Mathis officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to Hospice of South Georgia, First Baptist Church of Lakeland or the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
