Billy James "Bill" Strickland, 84, of Ray City died Tuesday June 30, 2015 in Tift Regional Medical Center.
He was born December 23, 1930 in Fulton County to the late Alvin J. Strickland and the late Eva Johnson. He was a retired sales representative with Georgia-Pacific, member of Nashville United Methodist Church, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, member of the American Legion and served for many years as a scout master with the Boy Scouts of America. He was the widower of Alice Lenoir Clark Strickland.
He is survived by 2 sons: George (Patricia) Strickland of Ray City and James Strickland of Pavo; 3 grandchildren: Colleen Strickland Fetzer, Emily Bass and Alison Strickland; 1 great grandchild: Annabelle Fetzer; sister: Jane Cartmill of Eatonton.
The family has honored his request of cremation. A memorial service will be held Saturday July 11, 2015 in the Nashville United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Richard Trawick and the Rev. Michael Finn officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Nashville United Methodist Church or the Alapaha Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
