Rev. Willie Leroy "Billy" Roberts, 78, of Alapaha, died Thursday September 13, 2018 at his residence.

He was born August 17, 1940 in Irwin County to the late Elisha Roberts and the late Gladys Brogdon Roberts. He was a retired farmer and member of New Griffin Missionary Baptist Church. He was a retired minister having faithfully served: Lax Baptist, Maranatha Baptist, Cecil Baptist, Knights Memorial, Ruth Forrester and Hebron Church. He was preceded in death by a 3 sisters: Doris Jernigan, Yodine Holland and Daphyne Roberts; and a brother: Wycliff Roberts.

He is survived by his wife: Clarice Carter Roberts of Alapaha; 2 sons: Stanley (Marie) Roberts of Macon and Phillip (Cindy) Roberts of Valdosta; 5 grandchildren: Parker, Brody, Lauren, Blake and Beau.

Funeral services will be held Sunday September 16, 2018 at 3 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Sim Youngblood, Rev. George Carroll Paulk, and Rev. Joe Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow in the Brogdon Cemetery, adjacent to New Griffin Church. Visitation is Saturday from 6 to 8 PM.
