Billy Hugh Tyson, 79, of Nashville died peacefully Sunday April 7, 2019 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta.

He was born April 23, 1939 in Atkinson County to the late Noah Tyson and the late Agnes O'Neal Tyson.  He was a concrete finisher.  He died 16 days shy of his 80th birthday and was excited on the pending birth of his first great grandchild.  He was a loving uncle to all his nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by 3 sisters: Alvita Clements, Leona Jacobs and Clisteen Luke; 3 brothers: Bobby Tyson, Bennie Joe Tyson and Robert "Buddy" Tyson.

He is survived by his wife: Carol Tyson of Nashville; 2 daughters: Carole (Jeff) Pennell of Weaverville, NC, and Lurinda (Steven) Hoogstraten of Kalamazoo, MI; 3 sons: William Tyson of St. Petersburg, FL, Glynn Tyson of Lantana, FL and Joseph Tyson of Rock Hill, SC; 7 grandchildren: Veronica (David) Blasingame, Samuel Pennell, Elizabeth Pennell, Cortney (Mason) Deal, Travis Tyson, Ryley Hoogstraten and Cameron Hoogstraten; 2 sisters: Juanita Spikes of Pearson and Anna Sue Wiggins of Tifton.                                                                                                                  The family will honor his request for no formal services.
