Robert Emerson "Bobby" Padgett, 85, of Alapaha, died on Sunday, 29, March 2026, at his residence

He was born August 1, 1940, in Mill Spring, NC to the late Harry and Elma Padgett. He attended Mill Spring Elementary and High School.  He enlisted in the Army after high school and served two tours of duty in South Korea.  After his discharge, he moved to Georgia and started a trucking business.  He was married to Nancy Harper until her death in October 1980 and was also preceded in death by a sister: Juanita Elizabeth Padgett and 2 brothers: Harry Kenneth Padgett and Gregory Dale Padgett.  He married Annette Stone in 1981, and she was his constant companion and caretaker during his prolonged illness.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Annette Stone Padgett, of Alapaha; brother: Gerald Ray Padgett (Linda) of Mill Spring, NC; 3 sisters: Roberta A. Franks of Chocowinity, NC, Penelope J. Padgett (Robert Silvers), Mill Spring, NC and Cleo P. Haley of Inman, SC; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and four great great nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 2 PM in the Glory cemetery with Elder Robert Tucker and Rev. Garvie Nichols, Jr. officiating. Visitation is in the cemetery thirty minutes prior to the service.
