Bonnie Joe Parker Nix, age 77, of Nashville, Georgia went to be with the Lord on April 11, 2020.
She was born January 3, 1943 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Amos Joe Parker and the late Reba Mae Peterman Parker, all of Columbus Ohio. Bonnie graduated from West High School in the spring of 1961, met Bobby G. Nix that summer, and they were married on November 25 of the same year. She graduated from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College School of Nursing in 1978 and enjoyed a long career in healthcare.
She and Bobby have been long time members of First Baptist Church, Nashville where she had once worked with many vacation bible schools, taught youth training union classes, and enjoyed being an active member. Bonnie was dedicated to her family and grandchildren, the title of Nana was one she cherished the most. Bonnie's favorite times of the year were the holidays when everyone was gathered around enjoying good food, jokes, and times together.
Bonnie is survived by her husband: Bobby Nix and three children John (Heather) Nix, Jay (Cathy) Nix, both of Nashville, and Kelly Nix of Valdosta; 3 brothers: Joe Parker of Denver, Colorado, Jimmy Barber of Columbus, Ohio, and Larry Barber of Nashville; sister: Debbie Parker of Denver, Colorado and six grandchildren Parker (Allie) Nix of Bluffton, South Carolina, Blake Fountain of Atlanta, Zane Bowman, Merilogan Nix, Wyatt Brady, and Morgan Nix all of Nashville. She is preceded in death by a son: Jeff Nix of Nashville, sister: Betty McGuirk and brother: John Hoffman both of Columbus, Ohio.
A private family graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday April 14, 2020 in the Westview Cemetery with the Rev. Keith Stewart and the Rev. Stan Nix officiating. The family asks that donations be made in her memory to First Baptist Church, Nashville, American Diabetes Association, or the National Kidney Foundation in lieu of flowers.
