Brenda Akins Wright, 59, of Valdosta, died Saturday June 2, 2012 in the South Georgia Medical Center.
She was born July 13, 1952 in Lowndes County to the late Robert Akins and Betty Nobles. She was a registered nurse and was employed with John D. Archbold Memorial in Thomasville. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and the widow of Burtis "Buddy" Wright who died in 2008.
She is survived by her son: Michael (Mandy) Powe of Ray City; mother: Betty Peters of Valdosta, brother: Bobby (Vivian) Akins of Orlando, FL; 2 nieces Lynsey and Alexis Akins; nephew: Sean Akins; 2 aunts: Cora Crosby of Valdosta and Sarah Frances Hagen of Ray City; best friend: Amy Griffin of Hahira.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday June 5, 2012 at 11 AM in the New Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Tyler Barrett officiating. Interment will follow in the New Bethel Cemetery. Visitation is Monday from 6 to 8 PM. Flowers will be accepted or make memorials to the New Bethel Baptist Church.
