Callis Spikes, 82, of Alapaha, died Sunday September 25, 2011 in the Tift Regional Medical Center.
He was born March 10, 1929 in Atkinson County to the late Ebb Spikes and the late Alice Jewell. He retired from Chaparral Boats as a fiberglass fabricator. He was a member and elder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Nashville. He was also an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by 4 sisters: Thelma Hayes, Grace Rowland, Louise Griner, and Eula Mae Jefferson; brother: Henry Spikes.
He is survived by his wife: Jennie Luke Spikes of Alapaha; son: Derrell (Vicki) Spikes of Ty Ty; daughter: Phyllis (Gerald) Miller of Ty Ty; 3 grandchildren: Dr. Derron (Candace) Spikes of Tifton, Damon (Mary) Spikes of Tifton, and Leanna (Mitch) Hickman of Savannah; sister: Lillian Moore of Nashville; 7 great grandchildren: Gavin, Madison, Callie, Olivia, Lauren, Gabby, and Christopher.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday September 28, 2011 at 11 AM in the Nashville Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Mr. Andy Solomon officiating. Interment will follow in the Tift Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Tuesday from 7 to 9 PM.
