Carlton Ralph Sumner, 78, of Brunswick, died Saturday October 14, 2023 at the Southeast GA Health System Brunswick Campus.

He was born January 10, 1945 in Tift County to the late Ralph Stephen Sumner and the late Linnie Champion Sumner. He retired as president of Young Distributions Services in Memphis, TN and worked for John's Manville in marketing for 28 years. Carlton's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family and his enduring love for those he held dear. His warm heart and generous spirit touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting legacy of love, kindness, and strong family bonds. Carlton's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. He was a devoted husband for 52 years, loving father to his children and cherished his time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife: Barbara Sumner of Brunswick; 2 sons: Carlton (Kaytie) Sumner, Jr of Savannah and Kris Sumner of Long Beach, CA; 2 sisters: Shirley (Ed) Friend of Kennesaw and Margaret Sumner Newman of Tampa, FL; 2 brothers: Steve (Cheryl) Sumner of Ray City and Gene (India) Sumner of St. Marys; 3 grandchildren: Selah, Alli and Noah; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside memorial service will be held Wednesday October 18, 2023 at 11 AM in the Hickory Springs Cemetery in Tifton. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude's Hospital.
