Obituary

Bobby Carroll Whitley, 81, of Alapaha, died Tuesday, March 4, 2025, in the Berrien Oaks.

He was born January 31, 1944, in Berrien County to the late Robert Lee Whitley and the late Doris Shaw Whitley. He was a retired forklift operator with the J.H. Harvey Co. and was a member of the Alapaha Church of God.

Carroll was a man of honor, deeply rooted in his faith and love for God. His quiet wisdom and steadfast devotion to his beliefs were a guiding light for his family. In times of difficulty, Carroll's response was always the same: to pray about it. His unwavering faith served as a beacon of hope for his family, teaching them the power of turning to God in times of need. His love for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren knew no bounds. He believed in second chances and always encouraged his family to forgive often and seek the good in people.

Carroll had a profound love for the outdoors and wildlife. It was not uncommon to find him nurturing baby skunks, raccoons, or squirrels. He enjoyed sitting on his front porch and watching deer in the field. He also enjoyed playing Domino's with his brothers and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters: Ruby Gray, Linda (Troy) Taylor and Annell Bradford and 2 brothers: Jerry Whitley and Ronald "Larry" Whitley; son-in-law: Bryan McGill; great granddaughter: Torey.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years: Winnell Lott Whitley of Alapaha; 2 daughters: Cam Lott of Ocilla and Melissa Whitley McGill of Nashville; 2 sons: Derik Whitley of Alapaha and Keith (Carol) Storey of Jonesboro, MO; sister: Jo Ann (Dennis) Knight  of Ochlocknee; 6 brothers: Robert "Bud" Whitley, Terrell Whitley and Don Whitley all of Alapaha, Clifton'Kip" (Shirley) Whitley of Tifton, Wayman Whitley and Earl Whitley both of Nashville; 10 grandchildren: Megan (Jody) Hulsey, Brittany (Andrew) Burtschin, Bobby (Andrew) Russell, JB (Kristin) Jilcott, Halie O'Brien, Willis (Sarah) Lott, Taylor Whitley, Riley Whitley, Bryan (Lakelynn) Storey, Jessica (Calen) Schumacher; 7 great grandchildren: Gavin Hulsey, Lincoln O'Brien, Waylon Lott, Selah Lott, Harper Storey, Hayden Storey and Lexi Cotman; several nieces and nephews.
