Charles Henry Flanders, 91, of Alapaha, died Sunday December 25, 2016 in the Berrien Nursing Center.
He was born October 21, 1925 in Alapaha to the late James Wesley Flanders and the late Irene Gray Flanders. He was employed as a farmer with Carl Dixon and a bulk gas delivery driver with Barfield Gas Company. He also served in the U. S. Marine Corps during WWII. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church and the widower of Sarah Summerlin Flanders. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters: Elizabeth Akins, Wilma Jones and Dalpha Giddens; brother: James Flanders; great grandson: Kyle Flanders.
He is survived by 3 sons: Charlie (Glenda) Flanders of Nashville, Tommy (Susan) Flanders of Enigma and Larry (Kay) Flanders of Alapaha; 2 brothers: Lewis Flanders of Nashville and Jordan Flanders of Ocilla; sister: Ella Mae Nugent of Alapaha; 6 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Wednesday December 28, 2016 at 4 PM in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Freddie Stone and the Rev. Jackie Connell officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 7 to 9 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church or charity of choosing or donations may be made to Bethany Hospice.
