Obituary

Charles E. Garrett, 85, of Nashville (Riverside Community) died Wednesday February 15, 2017 in the Berrien Nursing Center.

He was born July 13, 1931 in Willacoochee to the late Ernest Garrett and the late Allean Kirkland Garrett. He was a retired farmer and a national salesman for the Allied Corporation. He was the youngest Georgia State Senator ever elected on January 14, 1957 where he served for two years. He was a member of Riverside Missionary Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife Marlene Croft Garrett of Nashville; 2 daughters: Rhonda (John Tibbetts) Garrett of Tifton and Donna (Larry) Cole of Lake Blackshear; 2 sons: Charles E. "Chuck" (Ana-Garrett Milan) Garrett, Jr of Orlando and Justin (Mollie) Garrett of Yulee, FL; 2 step daughters: Jada (Jeb) Humphress of Bell, FL and Laura (Ken) Baldree of Adel; 9 grandchildren: Rhett Fraser, Lauren Perry, Hannah Morris, Jayden Garrett, Maddison Garrett, Lily Baldree, Bryce Baldree, Jerry Baldree, and Jay Shelton Humphress.

His family will honor his request for cremation. A memorial service will be held Tuesday February 21, 2017 at 11 AM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Futch officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions are requested to Riverside Missionary Baptist Church or Bethany Hospice.
