Obituary

Charles Edward Peters, 84, of Nashville died Wednesday November 20, 2013 in the Tift Regional Medical Center.

He was born October 17, 1929 in Irwin County to the late James Andrew Peter and the late Rosalee Hogan. He was a retired Chief of Police in Sparks; he was also a police officer in Tifton and a deputy with Tift County having served 31 years in law enforcement. He was a member of the Honorary Chief of Police Association. After retirement, he was employed with Martin Motors in Nashville. He served in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother: James Williams Peters.

He is survived by his wife: Betty Luke Peters of Nashville; 3 daughters: Norma Peters Childree of Reynolds, Grace Peters Taylor of Perry, and Stephanie Peters Warren of Adel; 6 grandchildren: Chris Warner, Shane Bennett, Jessica Warner, Kaine Bennett, Tate Bennett, and Wendy Thompson; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday November 23, 2013 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Mickey Lindsey and Rev. Ted Graham officiating. Interment will follow in Flat Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 6-8 PM.
