Cheryl James Norton, 74, of Alapaha died Saturday September 8, 2018 at her residence.

She was born September 7, 1944 in Edgewood, Texas to the late John Franklin James and the late Vita Christine Reeves James.  She was a homemaker, former mayor for the Town of Alapaha and a member of Alapaha United Methodist Church.  She was the widow of  Forrest Norton, Jr. who died in 2004.

She is survived by her daughter: Jackie (Tony) Parker of Alapaha; 2 brothers: John Franklin (Barbara) James, Jr of Yantis, TX and Tim (Carolyn) James of Edgewood, TX; 2 grandchildren: Jacob (Ashley) Parker and Morgan (James) Davis; 5 great grandchildren.

The family will honor her request for cremation. A graveside memorial service and interment of the cremains will be held Wednesday September 12, 2018 at 10 AM in Fletcher Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Hauser officiating.
