Short
February 28, 1934 – January 8, 2022
Master Sergeant Clyde Short, USAF, Retired, age 87, of Valdosta, Georgia went to be with the Lord on January 8, 2022. He passed away in Lake City, Florida.
Clyde entered the United States Air Force in August 1953 and retired from active duty September 1973. He was very proud of his military service and what it meant to him and his family. During his service, he received numerous honors and awards including a personal Certificate of Appreciation from the President of the United States, the Meritorious Service Medal, and was twice awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal. He was a graduate of Georgia Military College. He was a ham radio operator and an avid golfer. Additionally, he loved to read and write and was the publisher of two books. He was a loving husband and father, and a man of faith, honor, and integrity.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Janice Crosby Short; his children: Jeff Short and Juli Maddux (Jim); his grandchildren: Walker Mobley, Lauren Doyle (Louisa), Jacob Burkett, Hannah Burkett, and Rebecca Burkett; great grandchildren: Dakota Shane Thompson and Alora Jill Burkette. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Fred Short, Ethel Short, and Ray Short; and his daughters: Joni Futrill, and Jill Burkett.
Funeral services will be held Saturday January 15, 2022 at 4 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home. Visitation is Saturday one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held on Tuesday January 25, 2022 at 1 PM in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
