Dalpha Giddens, 93, of the West Berrien Community, died Tuesday October 11, 2011 in the Berrien Nursing Center.
She was born September 11, 1918 in Berrien County to the late James W. Flanders and the late Mary Elizabeth Hutchinson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She was the widow of Edgar Lawson Giddens who died on February 15, 2002. She was also preceded in death by a son: Robert Giddens who died in 1998.
She is survived by her daughter: Dean (Donald) Giddens of Nashville; son: Julian (Jacquelyn) Giddens of West Berrien; 1 sisters: Ella Mae Nugent of Alapaha; 3 brothers: Lewis Flanders of Nashville, Jordan Flanders and Charlie Flanders both of Alapaha; daughter-in-law: Kathryn Giddens of Tifton; 7 grandchildren: Weymon, Marlin, Ed, Bruce, and Glenn Giddens, Kevin Williams, and Virginia Meadows; 11 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday October 15, 2011 at 2 PM in the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jackie Connell officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 7 to 9 PM.
