Darward Murray Vickers, 90, of Alapaha, died Monday August 21, 2023 at his residence.

He was born October 15, 1932 in Berrien County to the late William Thomas "Bud" Vickers and the late Mattie Ora McClellan Vickers. He was a dedicated farmer and member of New Griffin Baptist Church. He was the widower of Dolores Sarah Swilley Vickers who died in 2015. He was also preceded in death by 4 sisters: Wilma Bostic, Ann Harris, Vidareen Bray and Bonnie Gaskins; 3 brothers: Elmon Vickers, Wilbur Vickers and Tharon Vickers.

He is survived by a daughter: Iris (Michael) Davis of Alapaha; 2 sons: Iraman (Melissa) Vickers of Alapaha and Chad (Dale) Vickers of Alapaha; 7 grandchildren: Adrianne (Steven) Roberts, Brady (Lexi) Vickers, Dana Vickers, Collin Vickers, Katelin Vickers, Madison Heath and Kaiden Heath; 2 great grandchildren: Hadley Roberts and Dean Vickers; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday August 25, 2023 at 11 AM in New Griffin Baptist Church with the Rev. Sim Youngblood and Rev. Carroll Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Paron cemetery. Visitation is Friday one hour prior to the service in the church.
