Owen Dewayne Leavens, 73, of Nashville, died Wednesday September 15, 2021, in the South Georgia Medical Center.
He was born July 14, 1948 in Coffee County to the late Roscoe Leavens and the late Maysie Vining Leavens. He was retired from Chaparral Boats in the woodshop and also worked with the Berrien County Road Dept. He was a member of Faith Chapel, enjoyed fishing, wood working and special time with his family. He was an Army veteran, served in Vietnam and received a Bronze Star medal. He was preceded in death by a brother: John Leavens and a sister: Rebekah Leavens.
He is survived by his wife: Sheila Cooksey Leavens of Nashville; daughter: Jackie Jordan of Nashville; grandson: Joseph Owen Jordan of Valdosta; sister: Jimmie Sue Crumbley of Adel; brother: Wally Leavens of Adel; 2 sisters-in-law: Bessie Leavens of Ivy and Rachel Cooksey of Nashville; brother-in-law: Gary (JoAnna) Cooksey of Adel; numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 19, 2021 at 4 PM in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. R.T. Castleberry officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
