Obituary

Donald Harvey Powell, 89, of Nashville died Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Hospice Satilla in Waycross.

He was born May 8, 1936 in Lowndes County to the late Hubert Powell and the late Oppie Lee Hancock Powell. He was a cabinetmaker and owned Berrien Built Cabinets for 63 years. He was a member and Deacon at Nashville First Baptist Church and served as the Sunday School director for many years. He served 12 years and was a former chairman for the Berrien County Board of Education. He was an Army Veteran and a past president for the former Berrien County Jaycees. He was preceded in death by a brother: Thomas Earl Powell who died in 2022.

He was survived by his wife: Sue Nix Powell of Nashville; 2 sons: Brian Powell of Nashville and Chad Powell of Nashville; 3 granddaughters: Courtney (Zack) Harper, Lexie Powell and Jesse Powell; 4 great grandchildren: Noah Studstill, Zeke Harper, Harvey Harper and Finn Harper; a special exchange student daughter: Yuri Osterhaus.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 2 PM in the Nashville First Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Keffer, Rev. Stanley Luke and Rev. Stan Nix officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery.
