Obituary

Dorothy Mae Monk, 81, of Nashville, died Friday August 30, 2024 at the Rehabilitation Center of South GA in Tifton.

She was born May 25, 1943 in Brooks County to the late Carson Watson and the late Della Mae Powers Samples. She was a retired machinist with Metal Products in Adel for over 34 years and a member of Faith Chapel. She loved her family, working in her yard and growing flowers. She was the widow of Charles Monk, Jr and was also preceded in death by a son: Irie Iston Monk, Jr; granddaughter: Shannon Samples Lewis; brother: Collis Watson.

She is survived by 2 daughters: Doris (Ronnie) Samples of Nashville and Wanda Fannon of Nashville; daughter-in-law: Patricia Monk of Adel; step children: Ray Monk of Fitzgerald, Randall (Lori) Monk of Cochran and Tammy (Nicholas) Gomez of Tifton; 2 sisters: Lou (Bobby) Welch of Nashville and Margaret Allen of Tampa, FL; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday September 2, 2024 at 11 AM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Walker and the Rev. R.T. Castleberry officiating. Interment will follow in the Nashville Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Sunday from 6 to 8 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Faith Chapel or Nashville Church of God.
