Rev. Dwight Bishop, 73, of Alapaha, died Monday November 18,2024 at his residence.

He was born March 23, 1951 in Guyton, GA to the late Rev. A.E. Bishop and the late Cathryn Bullard Bishop. Bro Dwight was a retired minister in United Methodist Church and he was a faithful servant of God who preached the true living word and served South Georgia for 53 years. He was also the past president of the Southeastern Jurisdictional Ministry for 6 years. He was preceded in death by his daughter: Michelle Bishop Todd and a brother: Rev. Carl Bishop.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 55 years: Carolyn Bishop of Alapaha; daughter: Nicole Bishop of Middleburg, FL; son: Hank Bishop of Nashville; sister: Barbara Davis of McBean, GA; 2 grandchildren: Sebastian (Michaela) Todd of Robbinsville, NC and Cathryn (Zachary) Lowe of Aberdeen, NC; 7 great grandchildren: Hayleigh, Grace, Brentley, Calliope, Amelia, Emersen and Arizona; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday November 21, 2024 at 2 PM in the Nashville Methodist Church with the Rev. Buddy Cooper officiating. Visitation is Thursday in the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
