Rev. James Edgar Rowe, 87, of Willacoochee died Thursday November 5, 2020 at his residence.
He was born December 14, 1932 in Atkinson County to the late Drew Everette Rowe and the late Mattie Lou Jones Rowe. He was a retired Sergeant First Class from the U. S. Army after 20 years of service as a tactical communications chief with service in Korea and Vietnam. He was a minister in the Holiness faith for 40 years and a member of Willacoochee Holiness Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and what he preached in public, is how he lived in private. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Myrtle Joiner Rowe who died in 2009; and a brother: Algy Rowe.
He is survived by his wife: Joyce Dowdy Rowe of Willacoochee; three daughters: Teresa (Huey) Hancock of Nashville, Terry (Dan) Spell of Ocilla and Marsha (Wesley) Fletcher of Claxton; son: James Edgar (Wendy) Rowe, Jr. of Gaylord, MI; sister: Sandra Malesky of Nashville; brother: Rev. Junior Rowe of Waycross; eleven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday November 7, 2020 at 1 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Russell Joiner and Rev. David Rowe officiating. Interment will follow in Willacoochee City Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
