Effie Lee Vickers, 85, of Alapaha, died Wednesday June 5, 2019 at her residence.
She was born November 5, 1933 in Berrien County to the late Grover Page Browning and the late Nancy Exum Browning. She retired from Irwin Manufacturing as a seamstress and was a member of Rowetown Missionary Baptist Church. She was the widow of Edison "Eddie" aka "Catman" Vickers who died in 2003 and was also preceded in death by 4 brothers: Buck, Nelson, Hubert and J.B. Browning.
She is survived by 2 daughters: Deborah (Buddy) Barfield of Hahira and Kathy (James) Griffin of Alapaha; 2 sons: Danny (Betty) Vickers of Sylvester and James (Donna) Vickers of Reidsville; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister: Loudell Williams of Omega; 4 brothers: Rev. Jesse Lee Browning of Reidsville, Vinson Browning of Nashville, Russell Browning of Hazlehurst and Robert Browning of Alapaha; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday June 8, 2019 at 11 AM in the Rowetown Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Guy and Rev. Mike Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in the Rowetown Cemetery. Visitation is Friday 6-8 PM.
