Eileen Mixon Rowan, 74, died August 31, 2020, at her home in Nashville, GA with her beloved family at her side.
She was born in Nashville, GA on February 7, 1946 to the late Lawson and Thelma Mixon. She attended Berrien High School, graduating in 1964 and continued her education at Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College. At a young age, she became a member of the Nashville United Methodist Church where she later joined the "Come As You Are" (CAYA) Circle and faithfully attended the Ann Jones (Women at the Well) Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Billy Mixon and H. L. Mixon.
After marrying the love of her life, Joseph H. Rowan, Sr., in 1965, she enjoyed traveling around the world during his military career. During this time, she became an active participant in communities and churches at various military bases before the two eventually returned to Nashville.
Mrs. Rowan was well known for her cooking and baking skills. She helped with Wednesday night suppers at Nashville United Methodist Church and baked cakes and other goods that were sold at the Nashville Farmer's Market. Recently, "Rowan's Homemade Bakery," was created by her daughter and granddaughter in her honor.
She was devoted to her family and is survived by her son: Joe (Lisa) Rowan, Jr.; daughter: Amy (Jamie) White; seven grandchildren: Austin, Cameron and Karlee Rowan, Elizabeth and Hunter White, Tim and Drew Mixon; father of her children: Joe Rowan; brother: Robert Mixon; a wonderful caretaker: Sheila Giddens.
Funeral services are planned for Thursday September 3, 2020 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwight Bishop and the Rev. Mickey Lindsey officiating. Interment will follow in Nashville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the Nashville United Methodist Church or Jacob's Well where she also attended. Mask are not required but are recommended.
