Obituary

Margie Eloise Ray Walker, 95, of Nashville, died Saturday September 7, 2024, at her residence.

She was born February 12, 1929, in Berrien County to the late John Mancil Ray and the late Stella Hand Ray. She graduated from Nashville High School in 1948, worked in Nashville and then moved to Tifton, where she worked as a phone operator. She met Jones Tyson "J.T." Walker in Tifton and they married on October 14, 1951.  J.T. would later die on March 13, 1983.

They moved to Nashville in 1962 where she loved being a housewife and mother. She worked seven years as secretary at the Nashville Methodist Church. She also worked at Dorminey's Department Store and B.C Moore's Department Store. She worked at Week's Decorating Store in Valdosta for almost 15 years, until being injured in a car accident. She missed working and helping her customers. She loved a dog named "Curly" and later she had cats she loved, including all LaUnna's cats she called her grandcats. She was a member of the Circle G and the Nashville Methodist Church. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers: Hayward Ray and Johnnie Ray.

She is survived by her daughter: LaUnna Walker of Nashville; 2 sons: Reece (Linda) Walker of Nashville and Charles Walker of Nashville; 2 grandchildren: Scott (Christina) Knowles of Bishop and Melanie (Brian) Nutting of Eden; 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday September 10, 2024 at 11 AM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Addington and Rev. Diane Shedd officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview cemetery. Visitation is Monday from 6 to 8 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Humane Society or animal shelter of your choosing.
