Obituary

Ernestine “Teeny” Gaskins, 81, of Nashville, died Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Vista Park Health and Rehabilitation in Douglas.

She was born May 18, 1944, in Irwin County to the late Fred Dix and the late Myrtle Fletcher Foxworth. She was a machinist with Nashville Textile and Nashville Mills. She loved her family, adored her grandchildren and was a member of Riverside Missionary Baptist Church. She was the widow of Herbert Gaskins who died in 2018 and was also preceded in death by the father who raised her: Leamon Foxworth; 4 sisters: Joan Sirmans, Fannie Fletcher, Betty Watson and Freddie Ann Bostic; brother: Virgil Foxworth.

She is survived by her son: Stanley (Brenda) Gaskins of Nashville; 2 grandchildren: Rebekah (Scott) Rigby of Nashville and Caleb (Brooke) Gaskins of Sparks; 3 great grandchildren: Olivia, Amelia and Trevor; sister: Charlotte Foxworth of Nashville; brother: Randall (Faye) Foxworth of Pine Mountain; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 4 PM in the Riverside cemetery with the Rev. Mark Swain officiating. Visitation will be in the cemetery thirty minutes prior to the service.
