Evelyn "Lyn" Young, 79, of Ray City, died Tuesday March 19, 2019 at Langdale Hospice House.

She was born June 11, 1939 in Lowndes County to the late J. O. Touchton and the late Evelyn Aurelia Atkinson Touchton.  She was employed with the Allen Parrish School Board in Reeves, LA for over 20 years as a school teacher and Special Ed Superintendent.  She was a member of New Bethel Church where she taught Sunday School, played the piano and sang in the church choir.  She was very active in community service and was the widow of Larry Kenneth Young who died in 2008.

She is survived by 2 daughters: Evelyn (Greg) Werbaneth of Dallas, TX and Carol (Marvin) Jones of Columbia, SC; son: Larry (Lisa) Young, Jr. of Ray City; 8 grandchildren: Katherine Werbaneth, Beth Werbaneth, Laura Werbaneth, Lexie (Tom) Lee, Lindsey Young, Logan Young, Eric Jones and Anna Jones; great grandson: Aubrey Lee; sister: Sallie Exum of Barretts; special friend: Charles Roberts of Brooks County; and extended large family.

Funeral services will be held Saturday March 23, 2019 at 11 AM at New Bethel Church with the Rev. Clyde Stokes officiating.  Interment will follow in New Bethel Church Cemetery.  Visitation is Friday 6 to 8 PM. Flowers will be accepted or memorials made to the Langdale Hospice House.
