Obituary

Ferrell Johnson Herring, 94, of Ray City, died Monday July 22, 2024 in the Berrien Nursing Center.

He was born September 5, 1929, in Berrien County to the late Floyd O. Herring and the late Connie Johnson Herring. He was a retired farmer, member and former deacon at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for many years and was a member of Knight's Memorial Chapel. He was a master carpenter and loved the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his wife: Myrtle Wilkerson Herring; son: William Herring; grandson: Scott Herring.

He is survived by 2 sons: Roger (Sherri) Herring of Ray City and Randall Herring of Ray City; 2 daughters-in-law: Cynthia Herring of Nashville and Vicky Herring of Ray City; 3 grandchildren: Kevin (Debbie) Herring of Valdosta, David (Brenda) Herring of Nashville, and Rose Herring of Ray City; 2 step grandchildren: Julie (Jason) Williams of Ray City and Mike (Chrissy) Nazworth of Jacksonville, FL; 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday July 25, 2024 at 4 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Spikes, Rev. Jeff Palmer and Rev. Johnny Guy officiating. Interment will follow in the New Ramah cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
