Brother Fred Hesters, 88, of Nashville, GA, with his family by his side, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday February 13, 2014 in the South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta.
He was born November 24, 1925 in Berrien County to the late Gordon and Rosetta Rowan Hesters. He was founder and pastor of the Nashville Mission Church in Nashville and pastored a number of churches in Berrien and surrounding counties. He loved the Lord and was dedicated to helping and ministering to everyone. Brother Fred had a passion for missions and was a sponsor of Christian Aid indigenous missions abroad during his entire ministry at the Nashville Mission. He cherished his family and was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Preceded in death by a daughter, Daphyne Walker, and a son, Terry Hesters. He is survived by his wife: Florie Griffin Hesters of Nashville; a daughter: Gwen (Larry) Griner of Nashville; a son: Ray (Marilyn) Hesters of Nashville; and 8 grandchildren: Keith Walker of Jacksonville, FL, Rodney Walker of Lenox, Tracey Hesters Huyck of Macon, Kim Morrissey of Valdosta, Michelle Hesters Green of Adel, Kristi Johnson Godwin of Hahira, Rana Roe Solomon of Lehi, Utah, and Dana Roe Lupo of Tifton; 14 great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday February 15, 2014 at 3:00 PM at the Nashville Mission with the Rev. Jimmie Hinson officiating. Visitation will be Saturday at the church beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery.
