Fred Jackson Porter, 87, of Enigma, died Friday June 18, 2021 at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center.

He was born September 13, 1933 in Heflin, AL to the late Goodman Hugh Porter and Oda Porter. He was a retired auto mechanic, insurance agent and member of Independent Worship Center in Tifton. He was the widower of Mary Nell Rutherford Porter who died in 2000 and Blondean Baker Porter who died in 2021. He was also preceded in death by a son: Lamar Jackson Porter and a step son: Kenneth Paul Snow.

He is survived by 2 daughters: Joyce Lynn (Jerry) Hewatt of Monroe and Marsha Nell (David) Snipes of Madison; step son: Glenn (Glenda) Snow of Tifton; 2 brothers: Bobby Chapman of Cedartown and Travis Chapman of Athens, AL; 12 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday June 22, 2021 at 11 AM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Hewatt and Rev. Tim Henry officiating. Interment will follow in the Vickers Cemetery. Visitation is Monday from 6 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
