Dr. Garland Edward Pendergraph, 89, of Ray City, died Sunday, June 8, 2025, in the Tift Regional Medical Center.
He was the eldest son of Garland Roosevelt Pendergraph and Jackie Davis Pendergraph of North Carolina. Dr. Pendergraph received his baccalaureate degree from Georgetown College, Master of Science in Public Health from the University of Kentucky, Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Parasitology and Entomology with minors in mycology and medical microbiology from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, plus a law degree from Purdue University and was a Fellow in Tropical Medicine at Louisiana State University, School of Medicine. He was a Laboratory Director for Doctors Laboratory, Inc., Valdosta, Georgia for 35 years. Prior to joining Doctors Laboratory, Dr. Pendergraph served on the faculty of Furman, East Carolina and Western Carolina Universities.
He is survived by his wife: Shannon Pike Pendergraph of Ray City; 2 brothers: Jack (Sandra) Pendergraph of Carrolton, TX and Newton (Michelle) Pendergraph of Alexandria, VA.
Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 2 PM in the Nashville Memorial Gardens with Father Jeff May officiating. Visitation will be thirty minutes prior to the service in the cemetery.
