Harvey Eugene "Gene" Stone, 86, of Alapaha, died Tuesday June 15, 2021 in the Berrien Nursing Center.

He was born April 24, 1935 in Lowndes County to the late Joe Wright Stone and the late Ruby Bell McNatt Stone. He was a retired iron worker, painter and attended Alapaha United Methodist Church. He loved fishing, baseball and was very instrumental in the building of the BCRA complex. He was preceded in death by his wife: Vivian Rowe Stone; daughter: Rhonda Stone; sister: Donease Guthrie; 2 brothers: A. J. Stone and Talmadge Stone.

He is survived by his son: Randy (Tammy) Stone of Alapaha; 4 grandsons: Ryan (Heather) Stone, Taylor (Mackie) Stone, Wil (Chasity) Wood and Patrick (Allison) Wood; 5 great grandchildren: Eli, Jackson, Pressleigh, Cassie and Jameson; brother, Russell Stone of Scottsmore, FL; sister: Patricia Stamper of Mims, FL.

Graveside funeral services and interment will be held Wednesday June 16, 2021 at 5 pm in the Fletcher cemetery with Elder Robert Tucker officiating. Visitation is in the cemetery 30 minutes prior to the service.
