George Sylvester James, 83, of Nashville, died Thursday, May 8, 2025, at his residence.

He was born January 2, 1942, in Boone County, West Virginia to the late Jon Sylvester James and the late Eva Stollings James. He spent a career in law enforcement, working for the Baltimore Police Department and was a United States Marshall. He loved his family, traveling, going to flea markets, very mechanical, could fix anything and served in the in United States Army. He was preceded in death by a grandson: Raymond Samenski III, mother of his children: Sharon Cregger, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

He is survived by his husband: John Frances Britt of Nashville; 3 daughters: Deb (Chuck) Lembach of Baltimore, MD, Jeannine (Lisa) James of Apolla Beach, FL and Renee (David) Johnston of Orlando, FL; brother: Clifford James of South Carolina; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

His family will honor request for cremation and a memorial service will be held in Florida.
