George Thomas Skinner, 72, of Ray City, died Thursday March 15, 2012.
He was born March 23, 1939 in Berrien County to the late David Jackson Skinner and the late Nettie Akridge. He was retired President/CEO of Farm Credit of Southwest Georgia. He was a member of the Ray City First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was the cemetery sexton for Beaver Dam and New Ramah Cemeteries, former Berrien County Commissioner, and a charter member of the Nashville-Berrien Rotary Club. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Ansley Elizabeth Skinner and 2 brothers: William Skinner and Jack Skinner and a sister: Pauline Riel

He is survived by his wife: Sarah Elizabeth Garner Skinner of Ray City; daughter: Sarah Virginia "Ginger" (Bo) Jones of Bainbridge; son: George Alan (Deanna) Skinner of Dothan Al; 5 grandchildren: William Skinner, Catherine Skinner, Ty Jones, Carah Jones, and Luke Jones; 2 brothers: Albert Skinner of Aiken, SC and Charlie Skinner of Cairo; 2 sisters: Kathleen Hendley of Nashville and Elouise Nash of Lilburn; sister-in-law: Louise Skinner of Atlanta.
Funeral services will be held Sunday March 18, 2012 at 3 PM in the Ray City First Baptist Church with the Rev. Robbie Peay officiating. Interment will follow in the Beaver Dam Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday from 6 to 8 PM. Flowers will be accepted or make memorials to the Ray City First Baptist Church Building Fund.
