Obituary

Alva Glenn Hodges, 79, of Nashville, died Friday March 25, 2022 at SGMC in Valdosta.

He was born April 8, 1942 in Atkinson County to the late Joe Lott Hodges and the late Maggie Esta Tyson Hodges. He graduated from Berrien High School in 1960 and the University of Georgia in 1966 with a BS in Education. He worked with the FBI for one year, taught at Woodward Academy and finally settled on a career selling school text books for Allyn, Bacon & Scott Foresman & Co. After he retired, he developed Hodges Educational Services in 1992. He was an artist blacksmith, and wood worker for ten years and made over a thousand bowls that were sold across America and Internationally. He was an active member of Sons of Confederate Veterans, participated in battle reenactments and was very proud of his southern heritage. He was a member of the Nashville First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife: Marjorie Ethridge Hodges of Nashville; 2 sons: Hunter (Jana) Hodges of Albany and Stuart (Lori) Hodges of Valdosta; sister: Jo Ann Wagner of East Glacier Park, Mt; 4 grandchildren: Holly Hodges, Marlo Hodges, Mason Hodges and Hunter Hodges, Jr.

Graveside funeral services will be held Monday March 28, 2022 at 3 PM in the Westview Cemetery with Mr. Wendell Ford officiating. Visitation is Monday in the funeral home from 1:30 PM to 2:45 PM. Memorials are requested to the Nashville First Baptist Church.
