Hazel Bachelor Yancey, age 100 of Nashville, died Tuesday February 1, 2022 in the South Georgia Medical Center Berrien Campus. She was born January 30, 1922 in Gadsden, Al to the late Otis Bachelor and the late Alma Lee Jackson Bachelor.
She was a homemaker, owned and operated Yancey Oil Co. for 35 years and a member of Nashville First Baptist Church. She enjoyed life to the fullest, having traveled to all fifty states and sixteen foreign countries. She had a love for sewing, the mountains and truly cherished being a citizen of Nashville and Berrien County. She had a wonderful work ethic both at home and in her business and did not have the word "idleness" in her vocabulary.
She is survived by 2 daughters: Joyce (Curvis) Sutton of Valdosta and Mary Howard (Thomas) Clayton of Ray City; daughter-in-law, Carol Yancey of Nashville; 3 grandchildren: Banks Yancey, Sarah (Clint) Ray and Lee Anna (Dale) Parker ; 6 great grandchildren: Andrew, Isaac, Susanna, Abby, Davis and Eli: a brother, Curtis Bachelor of Fort Payne, Al.
She was the widow of Howard Eubanks Yancey who died in 1954 and also preceded in death by a son: Howard E. "Chip" Yancey, Jr.; 2 grandchildren: Hannah Clayton and Andrew Clayton; a brother and a sister.
Funeral services will be held Thursday February 3, 2022 at 11 AM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Howard officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday one hour prior to the service.
