James Herbert Watson, 99, of Nashville, died Thursday, August 15, 2024, at his residence.
He was born February 18, 1925, in Berrien County to the late Mark Watson and the late Addie Fountain Watson. He was a true American farmer, hardworking and dedicated to getting the task done. He also worked at ASC office in Berrien County for about 15 years, was Berrien County Farmer of the Year in 2018, and was the oldest member of the Berrien County FFA chapter. He was an Army veteran, served in WWII, received the Bronze Star, received the Presidential Citation, was of the Baptist faith, and a Mason. He was preceded in death by his wife: Alice Emogene Rowan Watson who died in 2001; grandson: Jason Watson; 2 sisters: Christine Outlaw and Lucille Poole; brother: Sam Watson.
He is survived by 2 daughters: Brenda (Harvey) Morgan of Nashville and Ann Vickers of Nashville; son: Jimmy (Joanna) Watson of Nashville; 9 grandchildren: Mark (Sylena) Morgan, Terry (Leigh) Morgan, Becky Rogers, Sherry (Silas) Carver, James Watson, Denita (Eric) Davis, Bradley (Erin) Vickers, Cynthia Vickers and Ericka Pittman; 19 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 19, 2024, at 11 AM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Harvey Morgan and Rev. Silas Carver officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery with military honors. Visitation is Sunday from 6 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
