Irene Wright, 94, of Alapaha died Saturday February 23, 2013 in the Tift Regional Medical Center.

She was born March 28, 1918 in Prentiss County, Mississippi to the late Zeb Fortner and the late Ollie Barnes. She was a homemaker and together with her husband owned and operated the Alapaha Cafe for many years. She was a member of the Nashville Church of Christ. She was the widow of Brooks Wright and also preceded in death by a son: Terry Wright, son-in-law: Aaron Pierce, and 2 brothers Max L. Fortner and Zeb Fortner, Jr.

She is survived by a daughter: Virginia Pierce of Alapaha; daughter-in-law: Mary Jo Wright of Alapaha; 3 grandchildren: Dr. Craig Pierce, Lisa Purvis, and Tina Dees; great grandchildren: Blair Hagood and Brantley Barrentine; great great granddaughter: Kaylee Hagood; brother: Vernon Fortner of MS; 2 sisters: Eloise Beard and Faye Caldwell both of Booneville, MS.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday February 27, 2013 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with Mr. Richard Dale and Mr. Harold Chambers officiating. Interment will follow in the Fletcher Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM.
