James Robert "Buck" Nix, Jr., 81, of Nashville died Thursday November 19, 2015 in Tift Regional Medical Center.
He was born May 12, 1934 in Cook County to the late James Robert Nix and the late Geneva Moore Nix. He was a retired timber cruiser and shared his vast knowledge and passion for the timber industry to many friends. He was a member of the Nashville First Baptist Church and Duncan Lodge #234.
He is survived by 2 daughters: Toni (Johnny) Holbrook of Nashville and Teresa (Michael) Corbitt of Manor; son: Bobby (Denise) Nix Johnson of Homerville; 2 sisters: Nancy McCranie of Nashville and Dottie Griffin of Homerville;7 grandchildren: Eddie (Buffy) Holbrook, Crystal (Bruce) Clispy, Tiffany (Justin) Starling, Jennifer (Austin) DeLoach, Michael (Christy) Corbitt, Becky Holbrook, Josh (Laurie Ann) Lee; 11 great grandchildren: Hoss, Joci, Alora Gail, Ken Lee, Dempsey Anna, Mack, Drew, Paris, Gracie, Bentley, and Bailee.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday November 22, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Raymond Cason, Rev. Mickey Lindsey, Rev. Mitchell Deems, and the Rev. Austin DeLoach officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview cemetery with Masonic rites. Visitation is Saturday 6-8 pm.
