James Edward Glass, 61, of Nashville died Tuesday January 10, 2017 in the VA Medical Center in Gainesville, FL.
He was born February 27, 1955 in Tifton, GA to the late Melvin Otis Glass and the late Faye Blackmon Glass. He was currently employed as a security guard with Chaparral Boats. He was a former police officer with the City of Jasper, FL, a former employee with the Florida Department of Corrections, a U.S. Army veteran, an avid fisherman and a UGA Bulldog fan. He attended Hope Baptist Church and was preceded in death by 4 sisters.
He is survived by his wife: Wanda Westberry Glass of Nashville; daughter: Heather Dawn Powell of Gainesville, FL; son: James Melvin Glass of Nashville; 4 sisters: Diane Byrd of Albany, Mattie Lou Morris of Thomasville, Debbie Wilkes of Leesburg and Virginia Stringer of Cartersville; 5 brothers: Robert Glass of Jefferson, Lonnie Glass of Leesburg, Melvin Glass, Jr. of Sylvester, Michael Glass of Fitzgerald and William Glass of Meigs; 5 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday January 14, 2017 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Ingram officiating. Interment will follow in Nashville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Saturday one hour prior to the service.
